Comparison

ERP vs CRM

ERP and CRM solve different problems. ERP is the operating spine of the business — finance, inventory, procurement, HR. CRM is the customer-facing spine — leads, pipeline, accounts, service. Most companies need both, integrated.

Our honest verdict

You do not choose between them — you integrate them. Small companies can start with CRM plus accounting; mid-market and enterprise need both.

Decision guide

When each is the right choice.

Choose ERP when…

  • Multi-entity operations
  • Inventory and manufacturing
  • Statutory reporting and audit

Choose CRM when…

  • Sales-led revenue growth
  • Pipeline and forecast management
  • Marketing automation and lead lifecycle

Where the confusion comes from

Some ERPs include a light CRM module and some CRMs include finance features. The right question is not 'which one' but 'which is the system of record for which data'. Customer master should live in CRM; item and inventory master should live in ERP.

Integration reality

Sales orders originate in CRM and post to ERP for fulfillment and billing. Payment status, delivery status and support cases flow back from ERP to CRM so account managers see the whole customer. This handshake is the integration everyone eventually builds.
